Me and a few other guys who play bg2 often were in a server a week ago coming up with ideas for a new american class (because they're short one).

This is the result

"The French Sailor" french soldiers, mostly sailors (they did not win the war for america brits, they gave us supplies, and a small number of soldiers, heck over 1/3 of the brit army were german hessians...) were fighting for the americans during the revolution. To capture this in game, a new class, designed for close combat, should be added into the game

Primary Weapon- Flintlock Pistol OR Flintlock Blunderbuss. The pistol would work just like the officer's, and if the blunderbuss is to be used it will have a short range but high damage and spread, reloading with the speed of a long pattern.

Melee weapon- Naval Pike. A long spear made for fighting on ships, also used in the revolution and known as "Trench Spears." This would have more range than any other melee weapon, more than that of a bayonet. The awesome power of this weapon would obviously be nerfed by the sailor's weak ranged ability, especially if a normal pistol is used.

The French Sailor would run at normal soldier speed as well, so he is not an upgraded officer

How is it guys?
