Imagine a Battlegrounds 2 mod based on the Battlefield 3 engine.
Including stuff such as; Artillery, Cavalry and so on... (I myself find the idea of a tank being turned into a heavy horse quite amusing)

There is an American Civil War mod for Battlefield 1942. It's quite shitty.

BF1861? It never got past the prelim releases. It had some potential, but they never really continued work on it to the point where it was very functional. I helped them with some small stuff, but there just wasn't the interest to sustain it. I think the release for that is like 7-8 years old now. The horse jeeps were crappy but fun in the way a bugged Gmod server is fun.

Just combine the two for the ultimate shitty experience. Soldiers have unlimited stamina and a 12 foot long bayonet, and line battles are now fought from tanks.

That tank with a bayonet reminds me of Tribal playing BG, actually I'm pretty sure that's the character he used.

Also I found his son, zz.

But what would be best to make Battlegrounds 3 on?

Half-Life 2 Episode 3?(If it ever comes out)
Battlefield 3?
CS:GO?
Other?

My personal opinion is that the mod should stay in Source. I would prefer Cs:Go or the Portal 2 sdk, if those ever come out. However the idea of changing, or upgrading engines is simply an unreachable goal at the moment.

Dear Esther is the latest version of Source. It's beautiful. You should read Robert Briscoe's dev blog for Dear Esther. It gives a HUGE insight on how Valve modified the engine.

... and also makes for a great sleeping aid if you get the audio version.

You know what I could imagine? If in Battle Grounds 3 they (as in the development team that acquires the rights to this game) added horses, movable cannons and blackpowder grenades and then all those same scrubs who kept whining, begging and pleading for it demand and start up crappy petitions to have them removed to "bring back the classic game-play".

We need more maps with blockable spawn areas.
