hi all

sorry to release an update so soon, but there are a lot of changes to improve gameplay etc. so i thought it was worth releasing.

bg_bigrock_b2

download

install: unzip into your bg2 folder

pics:

changes include:

-fixed cannon firing whilst detatched from the base
-made cannon wider so they're slightly less sticky
-fixed info_player_start spectator bug
-new tent texture
-lighting changed slightly
-added cs:s models, including cannon barrel
-clipped spawns to make them bot / player friendly
-changed flag cap radius on all flags
-center flag now only needs 2 players to cap
-3d skybox optimised
-general optimisations (3MB less than the original bsp)


thx to klems for his cannon prefab on which mine is based
and thx to all the people who posted bugs n ideas.
any comments and ideas welcome.

oh now i know who you are! ive seen your work on the dod mapping forums, it would also be safe to assume that im travis from the forums tongue.gif

Much nicer, the sky fits, everything looks a whole lot better including your cannons which are still extremely sticky. Where did you get the hay/barrels/logs from ;o?

i seriously think you should prefab those tents! love to get my hands on em.

use it any way you like.

the models are from cs:s
the lantern is from cs_italy and the rest are from de_inferno.
i tweaked the colours of the cannon and the logpile vtf to make them fit my map better.

I noticed a little bug today.

I was operating the canonwhen someone else wanted a go, so i shot him in the head with my pistol.
I was standing at this location when it happened

I respawned and then I seemed to be hovering/flying very fast around the map. Tomdon said he has also noticed this before. I attached a demo of it so you can inspect more thoroughly.

Wow nice, i'm gonna try this out. But just a question, did you guys ever consider putting cannons on the Castle map ? Make it kinda like D day for the British, or was that Bunker hill ?

We played this map for months now and apart from a few small things it's wonderfull.
Biggest problem is the approach to the middle flag for the british. They have no cover while closing in on that flag where the americans can close in while being covered by these big rocks.
I didn't time the distances, but it seems the americans spawn closer to the middle flag then the british do.

Tjoppen made that map to give us something other than hill 1 to play. I came along and improved it by making it a americans defend type map. In other words, it was a map I could improve, therefore it is evil and must die wink.gif

We will probly drop it when a real mapper comes along and makes a assault map to replace it, would hate to have no assault maps at all, so we are stuck with castle.

also "Make it kinda like D day for the British" the british were there too, most of the allies were in fact, except the russians, they were already owning up in germany smile.gif ... I think, or maybe that was just after DDay

sorry i haven't been around for a while i've been busy working on this.
i do drop in from time to time, but i somehow missed the last few comments.
i popped in today coz i was missing travis and his brutal critical honesty grin.gif
the world needs more ppl who speak their minds.

the center flag probably isn't in the actual dead center of the map so it could well be slightly one sided.

PG Tips i can't open your zip file, maybe it's corrupt.
no idea how or why you get that "fast bug".
are you sure it's only on this map?

Well after some popular demand I decided to fix up and re-release bg_bigrock with the intention to maybe make it a bgl map. Plz download and try it out. I can fix up what ever is needed or pass the vmf onto somebody with better skills. Map is on BGL and Public Server.

Whats cool about remaking this map was cheese got all textures else where and now there apart of the mod. We need to find this guy and fire some others.
