Remember in bg1.0f bp or ben (possibly stevie) coded a wind effect for musket particles so they would only drift one way (due to engine limitations I think.) Could something like that even be applied to the source engine?

I think there is something like env_wind. It may interact with stuff like detail shapes or rain/snow if there is any but I'm not sure about it.

Yes, the smoke could easily by made to drift in some direction. I've considered adding wind which slowly changes direction randomly. At the moment the smoke particles don't move much at all.

the smoke is looking perfect when turning off HDR (!) so we dont need to make it look bad and grey- who wants glowing everywhere in the sky at the houses,weapons,walls etc. wants it also at the smoke. so when u want realistic smoke - turn hdr off - when u like the hdr effect - turn it on
