Here's a preliminary test schedule for 0.18 beta(SVN).
For instructions how to download the latest beta, see this thread: http://forums.bgmod.com//index.php?showtopic=1730
First| have a dedicated autoupdating server that's always(?) running the latest revision. So far it's the only one, so simply join that.

What we're thinking is having one day which is adjusted to some american time zone, one day european, possibly one for australia and then one "international" day.

I propose:
Wednesday 19:00-21:00 GMT (EU)
Thursday-Friday 24:00-2:00 GMT (NA)
Saturday 18:00-20:00 GMT (all)

Everyone's free to join the server at any time though, just try and alert some people in the IRC channel.

Sounds good. I'll try and be there tonight. Though I think First| need to update their server as I got a different class tables error and I updated my SVN version to the latest a few minutes ago. I created my own server and ran around a bit with the Jaeger and Frontiersman on the 'abbey' map (very pretty). Obviously it's impossible to test melee but I'm really impressed with the changes to the weaponry, both model wise and function wise. The guns seem to 'feel' a bit weightier and I love the reload animations too.

It'll be interesting to see how the improved accuracy along with the extended reload times affect the flow of game play.

Maybe have to double check your SVN update?
When I did mine it threw up a map error, I deleted the offending map and re-ran the update. This happened a couple of times but eventually I got a fully successful update and can now join our server no probs.

The First| server updates automatically at every mapchange afaik...

And at the risk of appearing pendantic - it's a playtest, not a chat session. I'd much prefer if the feedback and bug reports were made on the forums afterwards, so this doesn't get in the way of actually playing the game.

Seems I had the misfortune of trying to join the server before it had a chance to update itself from 501 to 502. Doh! All sorted now.

Fair enough.

I really like your abbey map, gRanTeLbArT, I hope it's as good to play on as it is easy on the eye. biggrin.gif

www.greenwichmeantime.co.uk, just so nobody gets confused about time differences and dst...

Also, my above comment was directed at lengthy discussions, short statements are obviously welcome, as is general friendly chit-chat, but it's a playtest, which means that the emphasis should be on playing - if we don't test it properly, the release will suck, which I doubt anyone wants...

Got a fair indication of the changes after our little run around tonight, definately need more people on the server to give it a proper test though.

Tronts changed the port btw 217.158.150.71:27010

Rah! No one showed up for North America test night this evening! I think I saw Sharpedge briefly but other than that- dead! dry.gif

I'll have to come for the combined test this weekend. I should be able to make that.

Yes I saw you on your lonesome Nathan and was trying to get in there to keep you company but I think my SVN was having a bit of a fit as I would crash instantly on picking a class. My connection can be rubbish at times and as a result the updates don't always come through correctly. I'm trying another update now to get it up and running for tonight.

I have to go up to Baltimore tonight, so that's a no-go for me. But tomorrow is the afternoon test right? I'll try and get to that. It should be pretty full.

I've also been trying to lure people I know into playing the beta and SVN so we can have more opinions on the beta before we release. They said they'd download and try it, but haven't seen them in game yet.

Just experiencd an odd problem tonight.

Spawn as a jaeger, change weapon and a british commander's arm model appears, go to change back and game crashes.

Tried it numerious times and it happened every time.

Tried it with all other classes and they swapped weapons back and forth fine.

Wondering if someone else can try this just to see if its my personal prob?

Yeah I got a smiliar problem where I would spawn as Jaeger and then it would crash the instant I tried to change weapon. When I created my own server, though, it changed okay to the green sleeved Jaeger arm. It's probably because there's been some updates to the svn around the Jaeger's sword today.

Same crash- I think this is one that will have to be fixed before the test this weekend- or else Jaeger is pretty much unplayable.

more tests? I dont know if we have anything really new to test, but as soon as we have something (fixed melee, new weapon stats?) we could need a new schedule

the idea is to have these tests more or less every week, and yes, we have lots of new stuff to test today, such as melee fixes, recoil, weapon balance tweaking (both shooting and melee)

My only gripe with the tests thusfar is that the turn out has been a little thin. dry.gif I think we should take some kind of testers' poll for the best times and maybe schedule based when the most can make it. I suppose a couple different times like we did before is still a good idea based on the timezones though.

If people idled on irc, organizing these tests would be a lot easier... but apparently, doing that is too taxing an activity for some xd

Good news, though, melee is a lot better now, I'd say more or less the way it should be. You still get the odd "fake hit" (but then, prediction is never perfect), but I've not hit a single time yet when my aim was actually off, and 99.9% of the time when your aim is on, you hit just where you aim... and if you don't, it's probably just hitboxes not corresponding 100% with the model.
