Today, instead of merrily going about 250 miles west as I was planning to drink beer and watch football with my cousin, my chain of command decided to dick me around and make me be back in this shithole tomorrow morning for a meaningless formation. So, while I was sitting in my barracks room, drowning my sorrows in my own beer, and cursing the fact that they've turned off the AC yet again in the barracks, I decided to try my hand at tweaking some of the skins. Much drunkenness and nine hours later, it is now available for your enjoyment.

Modified skins:

Continental Sleeve
Militia Sleeve
Continental Player Model (White facings instead of red)
Militia Player Model (Brown jacket and green trousers, brown cover)
Saber (More brilliant)
Hirschfänger (More reflective)
Charleville Musket (Brighter, more reflective)
Brown Bess Musket (Brighter, more reflective, stock color lightened)

If you all like it, great. If you don't, too bad. Any questions, comments, criticisms, complaints, requests, or anything of that nature will be met with luke-warm apathy on my part. If you wish to purchase a prayer rug so you can send your adulations my way, I won't stop you.

Anyway, you can see a video of the changes at: Fope's BG2 Reskins
And you can download the actual file from: Fope's BG2 Reskins Download

To install it, open the zip file, take the materials folder, and merge it with the materials folder in steam/steamapps/sourcemods/bg2

Decided to add a little more texture to our frontiersman, give him that nice "homespun" look. I'll upload a file when I find a better place than fileplanet (Who wants to spend time waiting in line for a single small file?). Perhaps when I have a few other things done too.

Now with a nice new hat and a little more color for his cockade. I thought he was looking awfully monochrome, so, you now have the black cocked hat.

Bam. Download link for everything listed, and the frontiersman tweaks. That's probably about all I'm going to do with the skins, so, if you were holding off until everything was done, well, there ya go.

Gouldins, I just want you to know, I like you so much, you don't even need a prayer mat ;)

The Continental sleeves: cheap holiday production costume for one of Santa's elves.

The Militia uniform: A brown hat is accurate but you made it dark red. Really, I looks as if the entire uniform was dipped in blood.

The Charleville: It's easy to under the issue here. The soldiers cleaned the muskets along the barrel. Why does it have ANY scratches that
don't run parallel to the barrel? Also, the texture is so light it looks like it's made of aluminum.

I'm trying to reskin models on my own to help the mod and I hate to deconstruct your work. However, if you drunkenly stumble into a project, don't expect brilliant results.

Did I mention I can't really tell the difference between reds and greens and browns? It's pretty bloody awesome. Essentially, I just took the textures that were already there, and reshaded them. I'm not a skinner, I'm a fucking combat medic. I deploy to Afghanistan next month. Do you really think this is my biggest concern in the world?

First of all: Thank you for your service.

Second: I thought that you didn't care about anyone's opinions of them.

Third: Wah wah, bitch bitch, boo hoo.

OK, since I haven't hit the bar just yet this evening (soon, never you fear!), I'm just wondering real quick, why do you assume all scratches on the barrel must run parallel to said barrel? (I vaguely recalled that as I was shooting today, and glanced along other muskets that were there, including my own, and noticed there were almost NO scratches that ran parallel to the barrel.)

Because they cleaned the barrels that way. So the scratches run parallel to the barrel.

What exactly were they cleaning the barrels with to scratch them up?

What cleaning method would scratch metal? If you're talking of scratches on the outside of the barrel? I don't think so. Inside, there's some cleaning and ramrod movement mostly parallel, I could see that. But that side ain't visible I guess.

James Asner is composed entirely of acorns and silly putty.

I quite like that frontiersman texture, how does it look without the eye-gouging bloom effect?

I'm not sure, I just did it from my laptop while visiting with my cousin. (Still there until tomorrow at the earliest.) The real thing with the frontiersman was layering and blending a modified burlap texture to give him a "homespun" look. (And the black cocked hat was to break up all the browns and tans.)

They cleaned the barrels with 40 grit sandpaper.
Prove me wrong.

I hate to say this, but the texture you redid for the charleville looks like x-ray film. It's ok to add detail to the lock.

It's too bad you're not happy with it. If you'd like the source material to play with, all you need to do is download VTF edit and Paint.net, and you'll have the exact same tools I did.

It's a shame forlorn can't tell reds and browns from greens, I guess he would make an excellent designer/photoshop worker
