I have finished the first release version , this map shows an part on the fights
in "Battle of Bennington" (August 16, 1777 ) .
..its not a big map but i hope the gameplay is ok..
it would be great if we can play (test) on some Servers soon

hmm i have noticed that my ambience sounds not to be played on a server..
i think thatīs the wrong entities which i use .
so i will be repair this soon.

ok i have this tested with castle.bsp on my dedicated server and also "no ambience sounds" so i think its not my map ! laughing.gif

Since the map is a bit bigger then the other custom maps we didn't play it yet.
I posted somewhere else on this forum about redirecting downloads, but it seems that other admins didn't read our request.

When our redirect is set up we will play this map.

For how many players is this map intended ?
It seems that most maps around are made for very low player numbers. That's really too bad since this mod will flourish with bigger playernumbers.

I do have some serious suggestions to start with.

* players respawn way to close to their own first flag/object. With 30 players capping such a flag will almost be impossible.
* your capareas are very small, making them bigger will improve gameplay on this map.

The main question is: for how many players was this map made ?

hehe yes 30 players are to many for this map, this map is make for 16 maximally 24 .
although I think that are already to much, it would give a bloody disorder .

I think in the future comes still more larger maps for BG , so that the players also need an smaller map for fast actions.

btw i was on you server yesterday (nick: no_mapper)remember? , you are a good player smile.gif !

it was fun but the server had any problems also lag because of players with high ping--and 32 players inside

Maybe you fancy another round this evening.

We still have the issue bout redirecting the custom maps so if any of you guys know a possible solution we would appreciate it.

Ah so you were no-mapper :cool:
[DonD]Gran told us about the HUD, because non of the DOND-clan can see friendly playernames, but hopefully w'll see them tonight with a fix.

Our server can handle 32-players easy (it can handle a 64-player BF2 server too so .....), but we still have to tweak it for HL2/BG2. I'm not a really good player but I do like melee battle since it also was an important weapon in a mod called Red Orchestra. What I learned there comes in handy now with BG2.

Hopefully there will be bigger maps with forward spawning in them. after all this mod is not about walking but it's about ferocious battle. Our clan is well known with making mods and maps (several of us participated in the dev-team and test-teams of Red Orchestra) so we might add something usefull to this promising mod.

I always wanted to say this:

why the heck do these (ugly) treelines have such an edgy black line at the top? if you make treelines in hl1 you usually texture the top with invisible to avoid exactly the same thing (or make the treeline no four-verticed thing but merge the two ones on the bottom (seen from the side) together) [or was it something else? anyhow, I got rid of such an effect somehow or maybe even by doing nothing at all, I can just check flower.gif ]

Well, I love the map. The only thing im worried about is how well the map runs with a full server. When playing by myself my average fps was about 45, when it should b in the high 60's in my opinion (this is based off the fps I get while playing bg_koth.) I dont see occluders doing the trick here beause your terrain is mostly flat, on a single plane. The ground does look pretty detailed, so maybe u could get away with a lower power on the terrain. Anyways, the map looks great, nice work. Btw, i never got the source, so I'm not sure it will make 0.0.14.

I am very very sorry, I totalyl skipped that pm. I tihnk my brother went on my computer and he didnt tell me about it. I found a lot of things in the map that I "didn't like." Ill go into more detail with actual pictures, not to make fun of you in public, but I feel that no1 has ever shown me a map with properly "optimized" geometry and ents. Ill go into detail soon, and I think the entire community (especially mappers) will love to c this.
