Due to the game having only English voice commands etc... I have an idea.
What about asking people all over the community to help out gathering voice commands in the different languages all around the world to support the steam settings for let's say: Scandinavians, Frenchmen, Germans, Polish etc...

It was more meant for the people with other native tongues ;) It's a nice little addon (Y) And it could easily be done, I mean the inteface always goes into the language you are using on steam, that's what I mean. Like if a player has his steam in French then why can't the voice commands be so as well?

Wait, I thought practically all British soldiers were Hessians? And that only the officers were mostly British?

EDIT: Nvm, I looked it up on wiki... 30.000 Germans, 50.000 Loyalists, 13.000 Natives and 56.000 British, so 30k/150k

The source engine supports subtitles for all dialog, right? Maybe, Wellington, you can research how all that works and start building something that the devs can implement. An addition to the bg2 options menu; Subtitle radio button with a language drop down box.

Honestly I doubt that you'll get voice actors of quality for all the available languages. However, closed captions are easier than you think
http://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/Closed_Captions
and under "bg2/resource/" there are bg2_<LANGUAGE>.txt files that could be translated for the dev team. Every little bit helps.

It is a good idea because bg2 is VERY multinational. However, I don't think extra voice commands for each language is very practical. Will you have Japanese and Korean? How much storage will it add? What if someone translates wrong or worse they translate into swear words? Noble idea but I'd stick with captions.

Sounds worth investingating, however I am still a bit curious, where did bg2 get it's first voice acters from?
And if I was to add more voice commands to it, how would it be done?
