So I stack this crate as close together as I can. I run the map and they are "floating". Any clues as to why?

Looks like the top of the crate doesn't get drawn in-game... Just set the creates above into the lower ones until it reaches the normal looking part, you know, where it finishes the corners. Ya, I'm hella dumb, but can't make a picture right now to explain.

1. Why do you care?

2. Which prop type? Physics, dynamic, static?

3. What meow says may be correct. May also have to do with model detail settings (under video settings -> advanceed) in game or LOD levels. Which settings are you using asner? The model may be simplified on lower model detail settings, resulting in this behaviour.

1. I care because it looks stupid when you put them in a map. I just build func_detail brushes and fit crate textures to them, but I'd rather use this crate. Meow is right, I didn't notice that.
2.The prop is static and dynamic. My render in the pic above is static. Haven't tried dynamic.
3.Model_detail: Medium. Most people use this because of the grass in strangeways. That may be it, but answer this; why does a box need a Low or even Medium detail setting?

tested dynamic, it does the same thing. Just tested and yes, it's the LOD setting. Now the big question. Why in the fun is the low detail model smaller?

Because tomdon made it so, probably by using some automatism in a modeling program. I suppose he simply didn't think about it or realize it was smaller. And it has worked for years and gone unnoticed. The LOD reduces it from 84 poly to 44. I really wouldnt care for those 40. I will remove the lower setting for 2.1.

BTW: If you use high model settings, the low detail would only be used at 100 m distance.

Damnit ana, what did I tell you? You're too old to be hanging around with the kids anymore.
